ABOUT US
A Family Legacy of Engineering Innovation
Advanced Bridge Construction Technologies (ABCT) was founded on a simple belief: America’s bridges can—and should—be built to last longer, perform better, and install faster. Our work is rooted in more than 30 years of real-world engineering leadership at the New York State Department of Transportation.
Our Chief Engineer, Mathew C. Royce, dedicated his career to solving some of the most complex challenges in bridge design, rehabilitation, and construction. His decades at NYSDOT shaped not only the region’s infrastructure but also the engineering standards and practices used across the country today.
A Career Defined by Service and Excellence
During his three decades in public service, Mathew led teams responsible for designing, evaluating, and delivering structural solutions on thousands of bridges statewide. He was recognized for his leadership, technical expertise, and unwavering commitment to improving public infrastructure. One of his proudest honors was receiving the Governor’s Award for Excellence, recognizing his lifetime contribution to the State of New York and his impact on transportation systems that millions rely on every day.

From Public Service to Private Innovation
After retiring from NYSDOT, Mathew continued focusing on solving some of the industry’s most persistent challenges. He began developing new structural systems designed to bridge the gap between traditional design practices and modern material capabilities. Our patented technologies—Ultra-T, Ultra-LS, and Ultra-JS—were born from decades of field experience combined with a fresh vision of what Ultra-High-Performance Concrete (UHPC) and advanced precast methods can make possible.
These systems were engineered to be:
● Faster to install
● More durable over the life of the structure
● Cost-effective for DOTs, engineers, and contractors
● Practical replacements for aging details that underperform in the field
Each design reflects a simple truth: innovation works best when it’s grounded in real-world needs.
Our Mission: Accelerating UHPC Adoption Across America
ABCT exists to help the U.S. transition to the next generation of bridge systems. UHPC has been studied for decades—but adoption has lagged. We set out to change that. By fusing UHPC with practical, buildable, precast components, our inventions: ● Reduce maintenance and lifecycle costs
● Eliminate failing joints and deterioration points
● Strengthen structural performance
● Fit seamlessly into standard DOT workflows
● Streamline construction schedules and reduce traffic disruptions
Our goal is to help engineers and owners deploy UHPC more easily, more affordably, and more confidently—so communities benefit from safer, longer-lasting infrastructure.
Building the Future, Together
Today, ABCT partners with state DOTs, universities, precasters, and contractors across the country. We believe collaboration is the key to transforming America’s infrastructure—and we’re proud to carry forward the same commitment to public service that defined Mathew’s career.
We appreciate your interest in our work and welcome the opportunity to collaborate on projects that strengthen the nation’s bridge infrastructure.
